Nightly Megathread #242

You're a wizard! And you're a wizard! Everyone gets to be a wizard! Nightly after the break.

For any of you who use SFM, some new background ponies for you. So go out there, make some videos and be sure to submit them to us.

Serious question for once. The current DD color scheme is a bit bland as you have noticed, made up of about 50 shades of... white. So if we were going to redo the colors, what kind of scheme might you suggest? Any idea is helpful. Remember this is the navbar, post background, sidebar and things like that, not the actual background.

We should use oversaturated colours for everything, firstly. I'd recommend mixing lots of dark reds and bright yellows, and some blues with greens. Don't forget to add stripes and polka dots and whatnot, to make your blog stand out!

Oh and add desktop ponies too.
Serious post, on DD? I'm done. Now I've seen everything.

(I have no idea for the actual question. Lololo.)

Plaid. Why? Because its the color of ludicrous speed.

And the text color can be raspberry jam.
Okay, where's FPLOOn for the wizard post? Anyway, I don't think there's a huge problem with white. I've personally a fan of keeping color schemes simple - otherwise they just get distracting (The new EQD layout is all kinds of ****, and this is one of the reasons for that.). If anything, I would personally invert the colors - make the background black and the text white. It saves power (which is good for the environment and especially for mobile users (speaking of which, why is the mobile version still disabled?)) and reduces eye strain. Obviously there'd be a few hurdles with it: ID may not work well like that and it'd probably screw up the yellow font that "You're a wizard! And you're a wizard! Everyone gets to be a wizard! Nightly after the break." is written in, but that's a relatively minor issue.

Mobile is disabled because it is made of fail.
Is there no way it could be improved?
Do you know anyone fluent in XML?
Anyone who spends a few hours on W3Schools?
I did that once... Not for XML, though.
I probably should do that soon.
XML is so similar to HTML - just spend an afternoon fooling around with it and you'll do fine.
...Are you sure mobile has to be XML? Bootstrap should do the job just fine.
Following the herd, eh? Everyone's gotta make their site a special snowflake...

Being more constructive, I've always been a fan of high-contrast neutral colours - so white, grey, black, tan/beige, brown. Maybe some red or purple thrown in for accents. I'd recommend keeping the white background, or at least keeping it light and the main text dark. It's extremely hard to read light text on a dark background for any length of time.
