Brony Documentary Featured in Kansas City FilmFest!

Excellent news! It looks like the Brony Documentary has been accepted into it's first (and hopefully not last) film festival!

So in the end, despite it's setbacks, the documentary is starting to get out there - it even had enough momentum to help out with the LPU relief effort! Congratulations to Mike Brockhoff and the whole documentary team! We hope you find much more success. Keep being awesome!

Check out their anouncement here or after the break.

Bronydoc Aids Unicon

It looks like John De Lancie, Michael Brockhoff, and all the others involved in the Brony Documentary have stepped up to help in the wake of LPU, selling copies of the documentary autographed by Tara Strong and Lauren Faust to help cover LPU's expenses. Check out the update on their Kickstarter page for more info, or check after the break for Copypasta. We thank them for their involvement in that relief effort and wish them the best of luck.

Updates on Bronydoc Status, Clarifications, Etc.

Dat statue.

Bronydoc released a while ago, as I'm sure all of you, and was unfortunately met with rampant piracy, among other things. Mike clears up a lot of questions in an update post that can be found here

Thoughts From Inside "Bronies", the Documentary

Yesterday we posted an update about the status of "Bronies", the Documentary, it accidentally got on Reddit, and one of the documentary's Assistant Editors, Nicolas, found that post and realized he was out of a job.

He then proceeded to write up his thoughts and perspectives in a very detailed manner and do an AMA about the whole experience. I said I'd do some research and write something up so that people could read it and have a functional understanding of what was happening with the documentary, but honestly I don't think I could do as good a job as this guy, so make sure to check out this awesome Reddit thread!

A candid, very detailed insider view of what's going on with the documentary has long been needed, so let's be sure to thank Nicolas and hope he gets a new job soon! Also thanks to Jordan Olling for notifying us / submitting this to the blog email.

"Bronies" Update and Misc. Video

So about a day ago John De Lancie tweeted this and it spread some worry. It would be prudent to mention that there is no cause for alarm: the tweet seems to have been misinterpreted in various ways. Mike Brockhoff clarified that De Lancie was not talking about production of the Blue Ray discs, and that they are not giving up trying to get the video to a more general audience. It still remains somewhat unclear exactly what has shut down, but at least it's not any of the the worst-case scenarios people were dreaming up.

Edit: The Kickstarter page has been updated with an explanation of what John meant. Thanks to TiM for letting us know in the comments!

Edit again: Lots of thought-provoking discussion about the documentary on Reddit right now! Welcome and make yourselves at home. We have intensedebate on our posts if you'd like to partake.

Also the brony community might be able to help out in other ways besides not illegally downloading. (The documentary staff would still prefer that people didn't download illegally)

In other news, the documentary has gotten some publicity from an article which you can find here, so hooray for that!

Also we have a Doctor Hooves and Assistant video after the break, because we just found it, and because why not?

Discord Came to Discord's Domain

(Pixelkitties is awesome)

So early this morning I received word from Mike Brockhoff that John De Lancie could join us for a quick interview and discussion about "Bronies", the documentary. Just a few hours later I had a working livestream channel, and Discord's Domain had coordinated with BabbleWithBronies and Bronystate to do some backup livestreams as well. Not even a full day later, the interview is done. Quite short-notice, but it ended well. Read on after the page break!

"Bronies" Makes Headlines, Other Updates

Good news everyone! "Bronies"has shown up on a variety of news sites including The Raw Story, io9 (thanks to Jordan for letting us know about that one), and WTVY. May it appear on many other sites too.

The documentary staff also appear to be looking for some help from the brony community in their local area, according to a post in the SoCal brony group here. Lucky folks from Southern California...

Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony

Some of you may have already watched the brony doc trailer a few days ago. After an hour of it being up, it was asked by the makers of brony doc to be taken down. They wanted the trailer be released early to only those who had backed the project. But now the trailer has been "officially" released to the public. I have a feeling this documentary is going to be great.

BronyCon: The Documentary to Feature Original Song by Tara Strong / Plus Release Date

BronyCon: The Documentary is A feature length documentary about the unofficial fan convention for aficionados of the show “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.” Some new info has recently been released about it. It has been announced Tara Strong has created and recorded an original song. “Take My Hand” is the title and it will be part of the credit bed of the film. It’s very good and very hard to get out of your head.

Also, a release date of January 12th for the digital download has been announced. The Blu-ray disc will then be manufactured and should be ready to ship in February.  The film is now available for pre-order purchase for a modest price as a digital download via scrnland.com. In February, the Blu-ray disc will be available to the public via bronydoc.com and amazon.com. They will also be submitting for approvals to appear on iTunes, Netflix and other popular services.

Go here for the complete update on the documentary, here for the main website, or go past the break for the video on the doc.
