Discord's Domain is 2 years old today! I want to thank everyone who's ever visited it. You're all the greatest. The future of DD is kind of uncertain right now, but hopefully, we'll be back better than ever.. In the mean time, thanks for 2 incredible years.

Discord Came to Discord's Domain

So early this morning I received word from Mike Brockhoff that John De Lancie could join us for a quick interview and discussion about "Bronies", the documentary. Just a few hours later I had a working livestream channel, and Discord's Domain had coordinated with BabbleWithBronies and Bronystate to do some backup livestreams as well. Not even a full day later, the interview is done. Quite short-notice, but it ended well. Read on after the page break!

De Lancie Question Gathering

Big news, little blog! It seems like we'll be interviewing John De Lancie about the recent documentary over Livestream at 12:00 PST for roughly half an hour. If you have any questions you'd like us to ask De Lancie, leave them in the comments!

Update again: It looks like we'll probably be able to run this interview on Bronystate. If It can be run in more than one place for redundancy, then we'll try that. And unfortunately it seems we've got a 30-minute delay.

You may have noticed the new page on the website this morning.

IntenseDebate is insufficient for what I'd like this site to be. So I'm playing around to learn how other chat features function, and learning about alternatives. In the short term we could migrate off of Skype to some other real-time communication method like that IRC. Eventually, whatever communication method we go with could even replace the blog email for submissions, via comment tagging. Ultimately I'd like to make some sort of graphical display for all the branches of a given conversation, with lots of cool features and color-coding. I'll explain more later when I've worked on it more: Just consider this a first step / an initial experiment. And of course, if anything goes wrong, apply the relevant Derpy quote.

SleepToFade literally made this artsy, with the help of the program that was put up yesterday. After seeing it in the email it took only five minutes to post. So best case scenario, stuff submitted in the future can go right up on the blog almost immediately... Cool!

...I can't wait till I've figured out how to make the program not distort images though...

The First Change

As I mentioned a while ago, changes to this blog were coming. This is the first of those changes/experiments.

Anyways, I decided to learn Java today, and then I decided that while I was at it I would make something useful. So I made a program that takes a list of URLs in a very specific order and turns them into HTML code that we can make Artsy posts out of. With a few minor caveats, we can now make artsy posts at a blinding pace.

And the best part? You can too, even if you aren't a mod. If you decide you want to make an artsy post for the blog, or make sure a bunch of new art you've found gets in the artsy, you can plug the URLs corresponding to that art into this program and submit HTML that we can have up on the blog in minutes, instead of hours.

I have an executable java file for anyone who just wants the functionality of the program, and I also have a the raw java code and a readme file, and a folder set up for use in Eclipse for Java EE. You may also need a sufficiently updated Java Runtime Environment for this program, as well as Eclipse, and if you're willing to play around a little, you should also be able to get the raw java code below to run on Eclipse.

Discord's Domain Invades Your Interwebs!

What this is I don't even...

The time has finally come! Discord's Domain now has an active site on Twitter! ...Sort of! We've finally figured out a way to link the blog to Twitter so that it makes a tweet automatically when we make a blog post! The Discord's Domain facebook page may become active in this manner soon too, though there seemed to be a problem right before this post was posted. So get your popcorn ready: sit back and watch the  mayhem as this little blog starts to grow its roots out into the rest of the web! Savor the Discord as we run around like decapitated chickens (No Scootaloo joke?! S#!t just got real!) fixing bugs and issues!
